When we left off, we had covered the dictionary definition of gender and a few related concepts. We found that while gender and sex relate to each other, one does not dictate the other. Let's dig deeper...
When forms ask for sex/gender… what’s a trans woman to do?
I was recently completing forms for a doctors office. While these forms were tedious before I came out, as a trans person, they've become really tricky.

Q: Our daughter would like us to tell her Grandparents that she is transgender. Do you have any tips? / How can a 3-year-old know their gender?
Basically, keep it happy and leave little space for dissent.
Q: Why is gender reassignment surgery advocated to be “required” for health insurance purposes, but “not required” for legal purposes?
The term I think you mean to use is “Medically Necessary”. Whether a medicine or procedure is medically necessary is a question best left to the patient and their doctors.
Q: How early do transgender individuals know they are transgender? Do transgender people feel like they were born the wrong sex or the wrong gender?
Every person’s experience is different; there isn’t a universal answer to this question. Further, there are different ways to interpret the question which can lead to vastly different answers.
Q: Is it better to be a man or a woman? What do you think about gender change? About the trans community?
Lots of questions about my opinions. I have answers...
Q: My daughter is considering changing her gender, I don’t agree with her decision, but I want to support her because ultimately it’s her life. What else can I do?
So she might not be a girl. It isn’t the end of the world, not for her, and not for you.
Q: How does it make sense for me to think I could possibly be a transgender with such masculine traits and interests?
I carefully cultivated masculine traits and interests to prove my masculinity and thereby disprove that I had any femininity.
Q: As a trans person, do you consider gender important?
I suppose it’s like socks — for the most part, we put them on and forget about them, and everything is fine, until it isn’t.
